When should I post? What the likes say, city by city.

Pick your city to see when restaurants and cafés there post, and whether the hour made any difference.

What we found

In our sample, the time of day made little difference. Posts got about the same likes as each account's usual post whatever time they went up. In 9 of 10 cities, no time of day reliably did better.

What to do

01

Post when it suits your day. A good photo matters more than the hour.

02

Suggestion (not from the data): post about an hour before people decide where to eat, around 11am for lunch or 4 to 5pm for dinner.

03

Post at a steady rhythm, so regulars know when to expect you.

Your city

Your city isn't here?Tell us and we'll add it to the next Index.

Public Instagram accounts of restaurants, cafés, bars and bakeries in the Suara Restaurant Index (pulled 14 Oct 2026), up to 12 recent posts each, in local time. Likes compared with each account's own usual post, so big and small accounts count the same. Groups under 30 accounts are not used for a claim. See the Restaurant Index.
